Ye Olde Hotel Bar & Restaurant in Lyons, Wisconsin, is a beloved local landmark dating back to the 19th century. Originally built in 1860 by Peter Strassen, it was one of the first structures erected in the newly formed village of Lyons and served travelers as a modest hotel before gradually expanding.
Over the decades, ownership changed hands multiple times. By 1969, Joseph Schaefer, Sr. had taken the helm, transforming the space into a vibrant bar and restaurant while preserving the building’s historic charm. Today, the Ye Olde Hotel is owned & operated by his son, Joseph & his wife, Heather. The restaurant & bar melds that history with modern hospitality: its interior is adorned with vintage photos and artifacts, and it offers hearty American fare — from classic Friday fish fries to prime rib specials — in a warm, nostalgic setting cherished by both locals and visitors.
Standing right in the center of The Town of Lyons, WI, Ye Olde Hotel is at the heart of the village.
